How Much Do You Need, and How Do You Get It Home?

Working Out The Quantity

Measure the area in metres, then decide the depth. Length by width by depth, all in metres, gives the volume in cubic metres.

On depth, Central Coast Council’s landscaping standard drawings specify 100mm of mulch across garden beds. A decorative pebble layer is doing the same job on a bed, so 100mm is a sensible benchmark to work from. A path or a courtyard surface usually wants less, and a feature bed can take more.

Weight is the part worth a phone call. Pebbles are sold by the tonne here, and a cubic metre of 10-15mm river pebble does not weigh the same as a cubic metre of 75-150mm Lucky Stone. So bring the measurements rather than guessing at tonnes, and the team will convert it.

Pickup Or Delivery

Both, and pickup is easier here than most yards. The yard at 4 Kerta Rd, Kincumber is a drive-through, so a trailer or a ute loads and leaves without reversing. Most products come by the tonne or in 25 to 30kg bags, which suits a single bed or a pot without taking a trailer at all.

For larger orders, deliveries run across the Central Coast on the yard’s own tipper trucks. Open Monday to Friday 6:30am to 4pm and Saturday 6:30am to 12pm.

Before The Pebbles Go Down

Ground preparation decides how the finished surface looks in two years. The three tips above cover the essentials, and the one most often skipped is the weed mat.

Choosing between stone and bark for a bed? Which decorative pebbles work best for Central Coast gardens compares the options by colour, size and where each one suits, and the mulch range covers the alternative. For a driveway or a path that takes vehicles, Gold Decomposed Granite is the one in the range rated for vehicular use.
